When I grow up I wanna be famous I wanna be a star I wanna be in movies. Hhahahahahah. This world is so cold; maybe I’m too demanding. Maybe I’m just like my father: too bold. Or my mother: never satisfied. Got bills due but I’ma party anyway. Sallie has been real good to some of us. Oh you gon front like you wrote a check for $20,000. Mmmm I doubt it. I see you stuntin around refund time and guess what, IT’S ALL GOOD. I’m in a tricky little mood. The goal is money. When you leave school and if you ain’t gettin any then listen to the beep. Leave a message; Metro if it’s local. Oh Phifer put it on silence. Miss Sophia Loron; a graduating senior at Spelman, and I hit Morehouse campus for the infamous Hump Wednesday. She is such a bad influence on the kid/ I was suppose to be shut in working on a paper but how will I say no to her? She’s really good for me, keeps me well rounded and listens to my tyrants. That’s all I need in this life of sin is a partner to play spades with; cards up all trust. And someone to listen to my tyrants.

For now I need for you to mute your monologue, Phifer is about to drop some 8 minute student extraordinaire-dialogue. Last week I modestly spoke about me being Morehouse College’s “Business Man of The Year“–guess I won’t be a college drop out after all…
Clap for him. Morehouse ain’t no community school (WE MAJOR); my SAT scores were high too!–and I am honored to hold the 2010 title “Business Man of The Year“. Ofcourse I hug the block–& my run for office starts in a few months–I already got my own campaign–I already got my state votes. & I typically last for more than just 8 minutes, but after an hour long performance this interview got a Swishahouse treatment and was chopped. I guess you could say that my image was cleaned by Mary Poppins. Vibe magazine is coming down and will be interviewing Marquis Phifer: Live in Atlanta; like a live concert dvd. I’m having it held in the barbershop–now how real is that.

I got a million ways to get it–yet I’m still hustling to find that one. I guess it shows that I suffer from bicareerality; I’m attracted to more than just one type. I escort books by day–and perform business by night-fall; I will not trip…

I transform by a flash–literally as my expensive camera catches only pixels of my hustle. You tell me good job Phifer keep doin your thang–but those words don’t keep my mind registered. If I wrote you a 4 page letter and enclosed it with a kiss of inspiration you still couldn’t read my words–I keep my feet on solid ground; and use my–I use my wings when storms come around. Boots are suppose to be made for walking; I got a boot on my truck earlier this day and I told the parking security that I did not appericate it, they know what I drive. My disposition “after all the stuff I do with Morehouse you gonna boot me like I ain’t the face of–off campus“. And then parking man said I parked in a professors spot–I said “well it should be my spot, hell my hustle sits on his and so does my car; he Hyundai”. But that’s another lesson”. And I had him unlace the boot at no charge.
The game starts now: Class vs Career–now swing batter batter. A true story, I was in class emailing the publisher of Complex magazine, and mid way through our email consultation my professor called me out and said “put that cell phone away before I take it“. I immediately laughed in my head and thought “lady you betta be careful what you say to me“. But the new and improved Phifer does not battle people with words anymore—actions kill wars. So I just sat there with a Beyonce smile–cause Im trynna chill with Jay, Ye, Don & Shaun Boyd–who wrote a 2007 piece about school. The points I took from it:

“A degree is a piece of paper, it’s not a magical entity that grants the holder immediate and undeniable success. This claim is not to suggest that a college education is worthless, I’m only suggesting that a college degree is nothing more than a ticket to compete. It puts you in the running for a better future, but it provides no guarantees.

I’m already on to the next–directly after class I had a meeting with LeMicah Levert, yes from the Levert family dynasty. We’re doing an event together at the end of this month. Yeh, that means you can shop for your ensemble now and use these few weeks to plot on how to get on our list. Follow the yellow brick road–a meeting with me is like Dorothy going to see The Wizard. You know you wanna have a ChampagneChroniknightCap with me. By the time you read this I’ll be at the event space locking down my corner–my good side at attention. Oh Levert, this is gonna be fun. I can do whatever I want.

I have a paper to write due tomorrow, 2 events to attended, 6 stories to read, physical science homework, group study for english, a meeting with art department for IFD publication, a photoshoot, intern interviews, LateBoots, and readying this event. When it’s all said and done: My life is currently a train wreck–but I’m still on track.
