*quote above from Life Style–An Incomplete Manifesto for Growth by Bruce Mau

Written in 1998, The Incomplete Manifesto is an articulation of statements exemplifying Bruce Mau’s beliefs, strategies and motivations. Collectively, they are how we approach every project.

This media outlet created by Marquis and I, set out to be a platform for our career, sharing our journey, and things we value is no longer categorized as what some may call “a blog.” (This is all my very own opinion) Go deeper. Think about the past and all the things we’ve talked about. Think about the people we’ve influenced by the things that come out our mouth. I think of myself as a vessel. Things just pour out of me that I no longer try to censor because the meaning of it all I can’t fathom. I try to find that balance of taking care of self and being selfless. But I do find comfort in embracing things that might make others feel a little uncomfortable. So I dig deeper. It’s not always about what I think. We are a voice for the people–the real workers/movers and shakers. LateBoots.com aka BIG. Big to me is much more than yourself–when something goes beyond a definition.

I’m in service for you and because of you. It’s not about me. Imagination has no price tag. Creativity is in our soul–all you have to do is tap in. The second I received the first email saying how I inspired someone and that my words helped them get through their day; In that very moment I discovered something of value.

So you think you need 8 hours of sleep every night? I never lived by that theory. Beauty rest? I don’t need it, I thank my mother for these genetics and they’re not going anywhere. My lifestyle has always been not so healthy. Hustle round the clock and tables with bottles. Even when I was a child I was heavy into my academics and athletics–Late nights studying and earlier morning work-outs. And I wonder if you know what it means, to find your dreams. To be successful you have to do things out of the ordinary or everyone would have the crown–mine is sized so I know it only fits me.

I can speak for Phif too. I remember those late night discussions and early morning conference calls. When you want something you make yourself available to it exclusively. I have my friends but I’m not around to be a friend. I apologize many times but I only drown myself with the cool people. Cool meaning people who use their creativity to put positive energy back out into the universe. You have to completely submerge yourself in it. Research people in the field you want to murder, which means many sleepless nights. “My dreams be keeping me up at night…”–don’t your dreams give you good stories in morning, settle with your dream building zeros in your account.

I remember having a chat with Ouigi, and he mentioned that he hasn’t sleep in his bed in months. And that he just takes short naps on his couch and then pops back up to go. And you see his hustle–aka Tide commercial. Yes that’s the Bearded Man!

“You have to create a vision of the world around you in which your best self can live, can grow…”

“Keep Moving: The market and its operations have a tendency to reinforce success. Resist it. Allow failure and migration to be part of your practice…”

By proving yourself and attaining success, it seems the higher you go the more non-human you appear to everyone (outside the box). Once you reach the peak of your career, you no longer have the freedom to make mistakes–#wrong. We as people see success and think perfection. But with greatness we should all be allowed the liberty to fall as long as we pick ourselves up. When at the top let’s not see fear in new challenges, rather the ability to gain experience. The journey begins at the plateau of your greatest accomplishment. To become a champion there is undoubtedly expected tears, blood, and late nights — we all used to color out the lines before we realized what it mean to be precise.

Written in 1998, The Incomplete Manifesto is an articulation of statements exemplifying Bruce Mau’s beliefs, strategies and motivations. Collectively, they are how we approach every project.

As far as the quote above I believe the poignancy of change is an important ingredient to success. Knowing how to take the “no’s” as well as all of the “yes’ ” are crucial to progression, otherwise everytime we had a #fail it could have potentially impeded our growth. Simply put: you possess the choice to be as determined as you want to be and in order to get anywhere there are always obstacles to overcome. Where my personal journey is concerned I have learned the most by living in New York, the harsh winters, the harsher fashion climate where one day you can be “it” and the next day spit out. But I’ve already established a long time ago that my goals are going to be met par excellence of course, aka I’m not going to stop at anything to get my SoHo loft, a house in St. Bart’s, the black Maybach…ok I digress. All in all the ability to “go with the flow” is the best way to manipulate the world around you, don’t fight change, EMBRACE it because everything you go through does not merely change you it makes you wiser. The more you know the better you can do your job, and let me say I’m pretty damn good at being me.

So many of my generation are looking for investors to complete their dreams. Why not do it yourself and owe no one? Invest in yourself and read more–buy books. We fail to recognize the possibilities within, how easy it is to research any of our dreams with the click of a button. Make your own movie and edit it. And if reading books is too flintstones for you then look up tutorials on youtube or google for anything from how to learn photoshop to building your own website–just do it yourself. We are overwhelmingly more independent then we’ve ever been capable of in the past. Now double ya money and make a stack.
