January 19, 2012  |  Add New Contact, Creative Curators, Individual Spotlight, Kodak Moment, Street Style

Photography by Othello Grey

The truest of the truant. Penelope Moon is the creative muse of Othello Grey. Grey is the Managing Editor and Design Director of Art of Re-use — a traveling pop-up thrit boutique that prices found pieces $50 and under with a limit of three items per customer. “The initiative is re-inventing thrift shopping and the connotation it comes with, whether that be negative or positive. In 6 month durations, we assemble a team of tastemakers, merchandisers and designers to play a role in building our pop-up thrift shop that lasts for a few memorable hours.” Visit http://www.penelopemoon.blogspot.com/ to enjoy more photography by Othello Grey.

A.CHAL – Roses on Your Silhouette

January 19, 2012  |  Add New Contact, Individual Spotlight, Invested Listener, Musicology

A.CHAL – Roses on Your Silhouette. Underground DJ/producer A.Chal has been of mystique throughout his music career. An obscure figure far from hubris, he plays the background while letting the music speak volumes. That said, his role as a music producer has garnered high praise amongst his peers, more recently with fashion house Ralph Lauren where he’s been active as music director in past campaigns. Today, he shares with us an embodiment of all things experienced formed into one “video single” to give viewers an added effect. via source

Phifer Has Dinner At The Einstein’s Metrotainment Cafe in Atlanta

January 19, 2012  |  After Hour Spots, Chef's Table, Editor's Picks, Foodie, Towering Intellectual Class, Where Are The Clothes

CHEF’S TABLE: Last night, Phifer was seen eating and later leaving the posh Einstein’s Metrotainment Cafe in Atlanta. He wore his favorite blacked out Grey Ant Status shades, sheep skin fur and leather sleeved jacket.

We need more, don’t we? Oh. This is- This might be- what do you think of…executive chef Adam Maddox? Clap-clap bravo, dinner was superb at Einstein’s. Oh, please… it’s just- I don’t know- judging from the sound of orders, business is booming. Einstein’s is a nifty venue–it is a trendy spot with very chic decor and dance music fills the place with energy; it is a place the “midtowners” can easily walk to on their way to a concert or Piedmont Park. Einstein’s combines a world-class outdoor patio with a sophisticated bar stocked with Heineken, and interior dining for the most unique space in Atlanta. Inside luxe décor creates a casual, modish atmosphere, highlighted by stylish lighting and rich wood trim. Outside, a large tree-shaded patio beckons, earning Einstein’s the most votes as “Best Outdoor Dining Experience” year after year. The food–one word: magnifique. The menu here is beyond flavorful (the fried okra is the best of all time) which topped this dinner off, No-no this isn’t a question. R.S.V.P. yes to Einstein’s.

Housekeeping Report: The Haze x Heineken Draught Glasses

January 18, 2012  |  Editor's Picks, New Product Report, Street Style, Towering Intellectual Class, Where Are The Clothes

HOUSEKEEPING REPORT: The Limited Edition Haze x Heineken Draught Glasses. The set serves as a blank canvas for Haze to showcase his original art, The Imperfect Star.

A package from Team Epiphany arrived at the door of Phifer’s Penthouse (lol, he is obsessed with living a king-size life). Everybody knows there is nothing more important than dressing up your home, apartment, suite, dorm room, or studio–it’s all about your cultured taste, –exclusively done. What better way to add to my cabinetry than with the Limited Edition HAZE x Heineken Draught Glasses (numbered and hand signed by iconic street artist Eric Haze). A glass with many of causes. The glass itself is designed to showcase Heineken draught beer. The shape of the glass, the oval guide and the laser etched nucleation point on the bottom all accentuate the flavor and experience of a perfect pour. The set serves as a blank canvas for Haze to showcase his original art, The Imperfect Star. The glasses come in a pack which includes: two custom/laser etched glasses, and an original signed and hand numbered print by Haze. The package is limited to 500 sets; 250 sets for friends and family, while another 250 sets will be given away as a part of the Heineken Klout Perks program during 2012.

Heineken is more than just the green bottle!

Sky Club Welcomes: Ay-yi, Captain! I woke up in Charleston.

January 17, 2012  |  After Hour Spots, Editor's Picks, Kodak Moment, Street Style, The Traveling Sky Club, Towering Intellectual Class

Greater Than. Inches taller, tonight we do it for Kodak at Trio Club and Lounge — a Downtown Charleston hotspot that caters to an anxious after-work crowd. Once the drinks start coming, the ties start getting loose. Downstairs you’ll enjoy a mature crowd with live sounds from Quiana Parler & Friends, South Carolina’s musical elite, featuring an extremely diverse musical history of the past 50 years. Parler’s reditions are a fresh spin on the after-hours celebration. While DJs frequent the upstairs club and dance party scene. Dare if you’ve got moves like Jagger. Now go to sleep baby.

MeLo-X – The Renaissance Man

January 17, 2012  |  Creative Experience, Individual Spotlight, Musicology, Playlist

Visual art to make you groove on this beautiful afternoon. Or not so beautiful depending on your location. What you’re watching below is a live remix/cover of Lana Del Rey’s Video Games by MeLo-X — a sonic creator. Incorporating kaleidoscopic influences from Eminem to Nirvana, from Picasso to Moses, from the sweet scent of Jamaican mango trees to the pungent stenches of dark New York City corners – this Brooklyn native fuses together vibrations of soul, electronic hip hop, old school reggae and new school basement party. MeLo-X will be releasing his first full length instrumental album titled “Fewture” on 1/31/12. Pre-orders available at http://meloxtra.bandcamp.com

Phifer & The Traveling Fur Takes Little 5 Points (Atlanta)

January 16, 2012  |  After Hour Spots, Editor's Picks, Street Style, Towering Intellectual Class, Where Are The Clothes

Little 5 Points: [explicit word here] another animal attack in Atlanta. Wearing a 70′s bomber jacket looking like an extra in a Doobie Brothers video circa “What A Fool Believes“! Get the car keys and let’s hit the block. Can you imagine a million me’s walking down the block? Looking like that.

Show me–what’s your favorite spot in Little 5 Points? Can I–talk like it’s just you and I? Well, we spotted faux Louis Vuitton sneakers in the vintage store Rag‐O‐Rama (see bottom right photo), and headed straight for the door! Little 5 Points is often described as “bohemian”. Translation: a lot of homeless people, amateur musicians, piercings and tattoos. Five Points is credited with being the indie center of Atlanta–the house of the indie crowd, but many of the shops are a bore. In the past couple of years the pan handlers have become fiercly aggressive resulting in a total buzz kill when you are getting hassled every time you leave a location to visit another. Your thoughts too: don’t touch my fur my dear [Dominique Deveraux voice]. My friends – who have an eclectic taste and artsy flair – insisted we go to Little Five Points to look for clothes, aka peddling nothing better than the stuff you get at Goodwill or Salvation Army but they label it as “vintage”. Or maybe I’m just disppointed we came across some fake sh** at a store that appraises every piece of article they buy from customers. Somebody was sleeping on the job, obviously. I pulled out the Purell and wiped myself down and left. The rest of us will be enjoying our shopping time in Phillips Plaza. With Versace, Gucci, Theory and them. I hope this was helpful.

LB Showroom Flr: Tom Ford ‘Visionaries’ Documentary (Video)

January 16, 2012  |  Creative Curators, Leadership & Heroic Flutes, Towering Intellectual Class, Where Are The Clothes

TOM FORD VISIONARIES: Oprah Winfrey Network’s full-length footage highlighting world-renowned fashion designer and film director Tom Ford is available.

Tom Ford’s installment into the OWN: Visionaries brand shared a collective gasp of excitement for all of Ford’s fans, including myself. The promise of a rare, candid behind-the-scenes look at the designer and man seemed to good to be true! The documentary brings to light Ford’s every day happenings, as to let you into the otherwise closed quarters of his rather particular lifestyle. I’ve always admired the unique and subliminal masculinity of the Ford brand–the ‘mixed-in’ masculinity and sensuality for some of the women’s designs as well. While most people think of the Texas native in regards to his overwhelming impact on the fashion industry, there is much more than meets the eye with the well-versed creative. He is also a well-respected Oscar nominated film director whose talents expand far beyond simply building an unmistakable fashion empire. View the entire piece above to gain further insight into the highly intriguing man that is Tom Ford. –>Inside Story

Compiled & Catalogued: Performance By Phifer Disc (Download)

January 14, 2012  |  Complied and Catalogued Music, Musicology, New Product Report, Towering Intellectual Class

PERFORMANCE DISC: The grandeur euro-rap bravdo (some tend to eye-roll when people remain ambiguous about what they listen to, but in Phifer‘s case, where it sounds like he’s essentially building his own dj brand while getting a degree from one of the most extravagant embossed and electrifying Party nightlifes).

Arrogance is so unattractive. Excuse my french, or is it? Marquis Phifer Presents “PERFORMANCE” from our “Leadership & Heroic Flutes” series; maniacally inspired music, coasting on heroic levels of dementia, pimping on top of various hip-hop beats. Yeah he does a whole lot. But in a spoken-word segment, P notes that this PERFORMANCE disc (which was inspired by his character in the upcoming luxe life after graduation and his previous club experiences) came “effortlessly,” and that’s sometimes all too clear. I’m fiercely passionate about this ensemble that I’ve put together for you–the flow, the cadence, the wordplay and the baffling presence is something to behold. While the mostly up-tempo disc never lacks for energy, some of the more beat-driven tracks (such as the “La La La” by Jay-Z) feel harmonically and melodically cooked, with hooks that live up to most downloaded Phifer album as of yet, “Girls $ Goons” mixtape.

Album Details: Inspired by the nouveau riche. The songs structures are just brilliant. So listen to this entire disc and try and say it’s one dimensional; I’m trying to disseminate a sense of dance exclusivity into your speakers nightlife– throwing invite-only parties gives me the right. PERFORMANCE embodies that young, flagrant, and flamboyant sound that you live for. And there’s plenty of seductive wit and charming feminism here. Phifer offers both himself and his checkbook: trademark decadence, Phif-isms. It’s all a PERFORMANCE | DOWNLOAD PERFORMANCE Disc.

May your finances become empowered.

Sham’s Blackberry Notes: Traveling Mask

January 10, 2012  |  Kodak Moment, Street Style, The Traveling Sky Club, Towering Intellectual Class, Where Are The Clothes

Pictorial journal. Hocus pocus, sequins are not just for parties. I’m not sure if it really matters, but I like it for late afternoons. Kind of like an innocent vice but way festive when it hits the light. “With my eyes turned to the past I walk backwards into the future.” Oh, the tales of a rolling stone age. I’m moving wherever the winds blows. Trying to keep it steady but, anything under 90 mph feels strange. I understand not everyone can relate to what I appreciate — A boulevard called sunset, a lounge called Suede and sand in January. Just a few more rounds until my feet touch the ground back in Miss New York City. –>Inside Story

Upper Echelon Dining At Ocean Prime Restaurant, Darling!

January 10, 2012  |  After Hour Spots, Editor's Picks, Foodie, Towering Intellectual Class, Where Are The Clothes

He is back in Atlanta. New friends. Oh how I missed you Haute Atlanta. Oh how I love you new friends. The table seated a diverse group of cool kids, banker-accounting types, artsy smartsies, and ATL movers & shakers. Fashion and dinner is a reflex for us. And what better way to celebrate having a reflex than to break bread with the fashionable. Ocean Prime, this is grand pretensions dining at it’s best. This place is fantastic and the “it” place to be if you are looking for an upper echelon dining experience. Piano music at the bar. Check. Private rooms equipped with TVs to watch whatever and 4 servers to answer your beckoned call. Check. Wonderful cold Heinekens. Check. Ambiance and decor…top notch. Not to mention my lobster tails, divine! Finally a fresh tasting, nicely prepared seafood restaurant with an ambiance and decor that doesn’t remind my of a large seafood shack while enjoying a beer! This is a nice new addition to Buckhead’s restaurant scene. Ocean Prime has a retro mixed with modern feel.
