I’m sure Vargo’s packed them in during the 70s and 80s, and was THE place to be seen in Houston’s west suburbs. We drove up through the white gates into the ample parking lot and immediately the gardens outside took our breath away…
So I played nice guy and treated a selective few (only women) in my family to Vargo’s for brunch. We had a spectacular view of the gardens; there is a lake, and trees, and foot bridges, peacocks, and a beautiful lighted gazebo. We dined on mimosas and a buffet of appetizers prior to our entrees. I had the salmon and it was THE SECOND BEST PIECE OF FISH next to the salmon from The Standard Hotel in New York.

The Scampi Mediterranean was so light and fun.

I ordered the pecan encrusted red snapper with creamy lemon butter sauce.
