After Hour Spots Presents: Dock Space with Shirley

May 24, 2012  |  After Hour Spots, Kodak Moment, Street Style, The Traveling Sky Club, Towering Intellectual Class

Rehab: All duties suspended for two days. Sometimes it’s an instinct to fly. Relaxation is everything — It’s the answer. But in moderation. “Don’t for one second feel guilty”, is what they tell me. My quality of life is buzzing at a 10 right now and the materialistic piece of the pie isn’t close to half of my joy. Are your eyes prepared to comprehend this? Impeccable tans that leave the smell of vacation. Ocean glow perfecto during the months of May through September. I’m like a Ferrari in the middle of a junkyard here. Ain’t that peculiar. There’s no nightlife, it’s more like a sure pleasure spa that keeps on giving. Next stop, wonderland at the dock. Come join in and put your hands up for the camera.

By Appointment Only: Sham Shirley at Grey Ant Showroom

May 17, 2012  |  By Appointment Only, Editor's Picks, Individual Spotlight, Kodak Moment, The Traveling Sky Club, Where Are The Clothes

Photo: Natalie of Grey Ant wearing status black frames — The 1st style introduced, now considered their classic staple. This over sized unisex frame epitomes the 1950′s in an extreme exaggeration. These thick rimmed acetate shades are reminiscent of Elton John x Buddy Holly.

Let’s have a toast with 1/2 of the creative duo behind your favorite independent off the grid design team, Grey Ant. I spy a new collection in the showroom, but sorry no photo leaks until June. As you seen previously with my visit at Brian Wood, I came with a surprise organic spirit. Natalie’s response to the budding mixologist, “Hmm…it’s good!” I win. –>Inside Story

By Appointment Only: Brian Wood in a New York minute

What better way to take off from the city? Cocktails by Kanon Organic Vodka over a new collection hours before departure. A simple DIY project for the real workers of age. 1. Take some Redbull if you need a pick-me-upper. 2. Add a little San Pellegrino Sparkling Beverage — flavored orange is my favorite. And 3. Some Kanon Vodka to the taste over ice. It’s your vice, you choose how far to push it to the limit. But as always, Please enjoy responsibly. Kanon Vodka — “Everything we put in Kanon is local and organic, from our wheat, to the water we source from our own artesian aquifer. We distill with extreme precision and divide each batch into three parts: the head, the heart, and the tail.” For $$ you can bring the lifestyle to your home or party by mail! Big things come in small packages here.

+ As for Brian, I’m the girl he loves to love. “I take horrible photos, but the best ones with you Sham,” he tells me while boxing shipments without interns. I, Sham Shirley, came to save the day. Just chill BWood, I’ve never done this before but I’m a pro by default. My improv mixology skills are golden. Sham Shirley World Peace with one sip. –>Inside Story

LB After Hours Spots Presents: Shirley & Co. No Sleep Till Brooklyn

May 11, 2012  |  After Hour Spots, Kodak Moment, Street Style, The Traveling Sky Club, Where Are The Clothes

I woke up on the upper east side, but Brooklyn will call you home even if it’s just for a day. I may take some notes, although this is not my first.

In a world where public appearance is absolute, I exist in the best terms that I can — celebrating beauty. And little fuschia stain all around the rim rim rim, just to let you know I’m bout it-bout it. Not that you care for a silly rhyme frontin’ an old cliché, but you have just accessed the NEW ORDER. Hold onto your wigs. This is a bust. Kind of like Bonnie and Clyde, Cecil and I. “The strangest damned gang you ever heard of.” We don’t really fight. I’m sitting back just chilling. My job ain’t a job, it’s a d*** good time. They call us entertainment, but Sham is not flower. –>Inside Story

The Sky Club Welcomes: Coffee Break Time with Shirley in New York

May 10, 2012  |  Editor's Picks, Foodie, Kodak Moment, Street Style, The Traveling Sky Club, Where Are The Clothes

“If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine. It is lethal.” Wise words from Brazilian lyricist and novelist Paulo Coelho. Which inspired the idea of two days off the green tea. La Colombe in Tribeca, a personal recommendation from my good friend naKota, for a pick-me-upper called macchiato. Not love at first sight but I do believe something clicked. The next morning I wanted another and I like the look holding that tiny cup. Enter any La Colombe cafe and one immediately notices what is missing – the merchandising and clutter of CDs, coffee mugs, home coffee machines and lunch foods; all items that distract from the coffee experience and slow quality service. Here in our cafes, first and foremost, the COFFEE and the CUSTOMER are the primary focus. + Spotted in Tribeca wearing an oversized cardigan that compliment leather shorts and tights. Very Peter Pan like, right?

The Chef’s Table: Shirley & Co. Spotted At The Breslin (NYC)

May 8, 2012  |  After Hour Spots, Chef's Table, Editor's Picks, Foodie, The Traveling Sky Club, Towering Intellectual Class

Life’s great, isn’t it? Escape is at hand for the traveling (wo)•man. And they say, “Sham, where you been?” Trying to re-create an episode of Extreme Yachts with No Reservations on my mind. You see the source of my motivation, right? But for one of the best bloody mary’s in the city, I run to The Breslin at The Ace Hotel for brunch with Linds. Not for pancakes, bacon, and waffles — No No No. The fried peanut butter and banana sandwich with a side of eggs is a gold mine. Trust!+ April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman, owners of The Spotted Pig, opened their latest Michelin-starred restaurant, The Breslin, inside Ace Hotel New York. The hearty, meat-centric menu emphasizes artisanal products, small growers and farmers, and seasonality. The Breslin menu embraces “nose-to-tail” cuisine methodologies and offers handmade terrines, sausages and charcuterie. Rich, salty, roasted flavours predominate.

Sky Club Welcomes: Where in the World is Carmen Shamdiego? Pt. IV

April 16, 2012  |  Creative Experience, Editor's Picks, Kodak Moment, Street Style, The Traveling Sky Club

“Oh! Tell me where in the world is…Carmen Sham-diego?” I got my hair up real big beauty queen style in the middle of a serene landscape. This is the kind of stuff I’ve been into lately during my leisure time. A visual feast for the soul; The displays created by Mother Nature herself never fails to inspire. Driving 20 minutes up a mountain around dangerous roads may not be your ideal afternoon, but traveling far or near strikes adventure and new memories with the intriguing people you meet along the way. A waterfall awaits you inside! The 60-foot high fall widens as it cascades into 3-5 foots increments to a wide pool at it’s base. Enjoy.
