FRONT PAGE REPORT: HEINEKEN ANNOUNCES $5,000 GIVEAWAY AS PART OF THEIR 2012 BLACK HISTORY MONTH ART CONTEST. Beer Brand Provides Consumers the Opportunity to Win $5,000 and Their Artwork Featured in Heineken’s 2013 Black History Month Advertising Campaign.

To provide consumers a nationwide platform to showcase their artistic talents and pay homage to Black History Month, Heineken announced it’s second annual Black History Month Art contest. The brand will provide one lucky consumer a chance to win $5,000 and an opportunity to have their artwork featured in the 2013 Heineken Black History Month Advertising Campaign. The winning artwork will be featured across national print, digital, in-store point of sale, and out of home advertising during Black History Month in 2013.

Fans and aspiring artists where legal will be encouraged to upload their original artwork on the Heineken Black History Month tab on Heineken’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Heineken) until February 17th. Between February 18th and the 29th, Heineken will leverage its Facebook Community to cast votes for their favorite design. The top ten submissions with the most votes will be considered by a panel of judges to decide the final winning artist. Entries will be judged on creativity and originality, as well as each artist’s portrayal of black history, and Heineken. The winner will be announced on March 8th, 2012.

“Heineken is excited to not only support Black History Month but also showcase artists nationwide,” said Olga Osminkina, Senior Brand Director of Heineken. “We look forward to the various submissions from participants and hope this program provides a budding artist a chance to have their artwork showcased on a national platform.” The program will kick off this year with a campaign featuring artwork by the 2011 finalist, Latasha Williams.

Fans and artists participating in the 2012 Heineken Black History Month Contest must be over the age of 21 to participate.

Shaun Ross, first albino model from New York and most recently appeared in Katy Perry’s “E.T.” music video and Beyonce’s “Party”, takes us on an eventful trip to Paris packed with photoshoots, parties, and appearances from Chaka Khan and Grace Jones. Ross has been featured in photo-editorial campaigns in major fashion publications including British GQ, Italian Vogue, i-D Magazine, Paper Magazine and Another Man, and has modeled for Alexander McQueen and Givenchy. Christmas in Georgia: Ello ello ello ello feeling what some only know. Experiencing the beauty of mountain air from my birth place. Moo-moo’s and gallops exiting my block. And when I crank she roars down the windy country roads — I call her big red. One hand in the air if Christmas is your one excused day off. As young as yesterday, on the 5th floor I can see the world go around below me. There is no key to my game — Only dead fish swim with the stream. Your job is to make something happen. When they must do something and you are the best available champion, it’ll get done. To keep a handle on this I am anchored. One more week and I can take a nap for 15 minutes. This is not for commercial usage. I was just in the neighborhood and I thought this would be fun. Off to the races.

I’ve been out to sea for a long time. Summer is over, this ain’t no beach house. Build time for wandering into any trip. I relate more to The Temptations’ “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone” more than fatherless households. Momma’s confused about my whereabouts and benefits. But my skin is clear, got my pearly whites; A meatless lifestyle running after that cake, cake, cake, cake, cake. What doesn’t compute? That summer on the beach looked like a fourtune but only on camera. Friends with beneficial boat rides will make a priceless picture in your city. A pain killer from one of those online boutiques is a BUY NOW click away for the not so electric days. Saving money will never make you rich. But I never meantion everything I dabble in — That’s a cheap way to put out. I stay in the coolest moods, spending time just taking care of me right now.

GQ writes–They’re waiting for him at the gallery. They’re lined up in the foyer, as if for inspection. Ealan Wingate, who runs the place, nutty-professorial in a bow tie and blazer, stands with some gallery staffers, young women in heels and complicated blouses, their demeanor poised and professional, their eyes flashing OMG, OMG as the gallery doors open to let in the hard fall wind off the Hudson and also Shawn Corey Carter, better known from the Marcy Houses to Marrakech as Jay-Z. He’s wearing Timberlands, just-this-side-of-baggy jeans, a plain dark blue hoodie, and a look of regal amusement. Like, For me? He shakes everybody’s hand, introduces himself as “Jay.”“Jay is among the first rappers to name-drop his contemporary-art holdings in the same you-ain’t-up-on-this tone that other MCs employ when discussing their watches. He shouts out art-world superdealer Larry Gagosian in his verse on “That’s My Bitch,” from Watch the Throne, the collaborative album he and Kanye West released a few months ago. Morehouse’s history is so impressive, so tangible, that you can’t help but be filled with a keen sense of awe and respect for the men who have come to this place and gone on to make outstanding contributions to society. You know their names: Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., filmmaker Shelton “Spike” Lee, Olympic Gold Medalist Edwin Moses, and countless other Morehouse Men among your family members, friends and mentors who are leaders in their communities and professions. The Homecoming football game and preceding tailgate are the most widely recognized and heavily attended events of the week.

Alumni and students gathered from all around the world to return to their Alma Mater and reconnect with one another and take part in the festivities. Looking more like a phoenix bird than a student during the tailgate events, I had the chance to reconnect with my brothers and Spelman sisters! I am enjoying my last and Senior year guys! No one does it like Spelhouse. And if they tell you otherwise they a lie! In the midst of an early 21st-century Great Recession, we are the vicarious experience of opulence!

Open your eyes this is like a circus in the sky–horses carry us like Julius Caesar. Yo-yo can I speak to Phifer—who this?–call back I’m busy. Call me Mickey Phifer, kind of like Mick Jagger with ‘ey’. Hey-hey we some champions; now break bread and stop acting all up tight. Coasting with Dee & Ricky in Atlanta–I had no patience for NY. Read my lips carefully: Under 6 figures–mmmmm sorry. All you have is your word and your wallet. So when you come to Atlanta bring your sunblock–cause it gets hot around here and expect to party. Fix your face! If this was Saved By The Bell could you guess who would be Lisa?–I have a map of every mall from here to Tijuana.

My friends came to town–laughing because our dreams ain’t dreams no more! This is Dee & Ricky take over LateBoots week! This past Thursday celebrity designers Dee & Ricky hosted the 2nd installment of ‘Creative Curating‘–( brought to you by 12thDisciples)–a music showcase and fashion show series that took place at Spring4th on August 25th in Atlanta. While the first was hosted by Vashtie Kola, this installment saw the Atlanta debut of NY Based twin accessory designers Dee & Ricky.
