It’s a combination that may not seem logical, but when you hear it you’ll know you need it, you’ve gotta have it and it’s what you’ve always been looking for. Meet THE DRUMS….

The Drums–an indie surf-pop band from Brooklyn that was formed from two best friends; Band mates Jonathan and Jacob we’re childhood friends who meet at summer camp. The singin’, the stringin’, the twangin’ and, the bangin’, used by The Drums when describing the bands composition. Their new single ‘Down by the Water’ didn’t make it pass the 30 sec mark before I was searching for a download. Maybe I’m thirsty for new music or are The Drums the ‘Best New Break-Out Band of 2010′?

I guess the name would make sense — I love them and they’re hair. 70’s rock n’ roll band–Queen. Freddie Mercury is cool’s inspiration screaming, “I’m HERE! & f__k you if you don’t understand.” Have you seen him? Do you know whom I am talking about? Peep the first picture (and its not a distant cousin). Yess — cheekbones in tow, Jolie lips, and a twist to make you shout. Remember front man of Francis and the Lights? History Time: “Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1971, and one of the most commercially successful musical acts of all time. The group originally consisted of Freddie Mercury, (lead vocals), Brian May (lead guitar, vocals), John Deacon (bass guitar), and Roger Taylor (drums, vocals). Queen’s initial works were chiefly glam rock,[3] heavy metal and progressive rock orientated, however with time the band incorporated diverse and innovative styles in their music, exploring the likes of vaudeville, electronic music and funk. The band digressed from using progressive themes in their music in the mid-1970s, with more conventional and radio-friendly works bringing them greater success.[4] Throughout the 1970s, Queen disclosed the absence of synthesisers on their albums, yet their style continued to evolve. Life is a movie. What’s your soundtrack? My motor is knocking to this new Gordon Voidwell for the moment. “I’m driving shinny cars, I’m at the galleries–I’m drinking champagne, my breakfast is caviar…”

Gordon Voidwell, South Bronx native, is determined to bring hip hop to the indie scene. What genre of music does he cover? Don’t hold your breathe trying to figure that out. Voidwell feels he covers all genres of music with the exception of blue grass. In recent projects Voidwell (spoken exactly how it looks Void- Well) teams up with good friend Ralph Lauren for the release of his single “Ivy League Circus.” Available here on Ralph Lauren Rugby’s website. Voidwell and his band memeber wear many hats, some still working 9 to 5’s and Voidwell is also a freelance fashion journalist planning to re-write the history books of fashion and music. #ambitious You know we support the real workers.

The highly anticipated music video from Theophilus London “I Want You”, is the first single off his mixtape of the same name starring Glenn Aya Lovrich. The video resembles a 60’s experimental french new wave film than your typical music video…

“collaborating with Theophilus has been one of the most fulfilling projects i’ve ever had the honor of being apart of, hands down.

first it was the mixtape “I Want You”, where he asked me to lend some vocals earlier this year -taking me out of my comfort zone. i’d been asked by music making friends to do the same before, but always shied (by the way i’m shocked that thats the correct spelling of the past tense for “shy”) away from the microphone. this time it seemed just right. it was a real collaboration between two like minded artists…and the first of many!

next up, it was creating videos (more so visuals) that would be paired perfectly with the genius music he’s effortlessly been creating for his mixtape. i had an idea for “I Want You”, pitched it to THEO and it was done.

this would be the most sexual piece of work i’ve ever created…listening to the song gave me all the visuals to work with.”-Vashtie

True Story: Last week Sham was at the table next to Kanye’s in a New York City club, she sent me a BBM saying “Kanye is next to me, and they playing his new music, the shit is sick!” She didn’t lie, I can’t stop playing it. I’m convinced Janelle Monae was brought into my life by some high powered being that I have yet to met. Her & I use to make jokes that I was the male version of her; our love for tuexdo’s and equestrian wear, but focus on wearing her new album…

I know right from wrong and Janelle is right. Where do I even start, the most important purchase this summer should be The ArchAndroid. It’s sick for I know this because I just threw up. It’s like a musical ensemble, 18 tracks, 70 minutes–what’s not to love. My favorite tracks: BaBopBye Ya, Say You’ll Go, Wondaland, Neon Valley Street, Tightrope, Cold War, Locked Inside, Faster, Dance or Die. Bravo Janelle. Bravo.

Become a dream weaver of song and you’re on my list of superstars. Who doesn’t love a facelifts of classic songs?–that’s if its done well…

London caught my attention with his mixtape JAM!, which featured a cover of Prince-I Would Die 4 You. I was 50 percent sold, then I saw him live and it was a wrap. The industry is full of studio artist–great branding, marketing, image consultanting, and no creativity. I can’t be down if I you’re not capable of making me believe your music live–I believe Theophilus London.
