History: Booker. T Washington Early College is one of the newest early college schools in the Atlanta Public School System. The premise behind the early college concept is to afford students the opportunity to obtain college credit while going to high school. The school serves as a cornerstone of Atlanta Public School’s comprehensive reform program-Project GRAD (Graduation Really Achieves Dreams).

GET EXCITED. Have you ever studied with the lights on? We’re designing lives and empowering black kids with a suit and tie on. For the past 6 weeks myself and company taught our Power Lecture Series; empowering the youth concentrating on appropriate dress, the importance of networking and interviewing skills over at Booker T. Washington Early College. It’s very important to understand how critical this type of school is. Students who graduate from the program will be prepared to purse post secondary education at some of the top universities and early colleges in the US.

The Principal of Booker T. Washington, Dr. Nicholas, enjoyed our lectures so–that she wants us to attend the faculty meetings infusing our fresh and young approach with their curriculum.

For now New York have fun, I will take one for the team.

History: Founded in 1981, the Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless has consistently served as the central coordinating agency for services to individuals who are homeless. For the past 26 years they have served several hundred thousand individuals. The programs help link people to services that include but are not limited to: shelter, housing outreach, transportation, employment and health care. The Task Force pursues progressive, enduring social change while respecting the urgent needs of homeless persons needing immediate and emergency assistance toward the goal of “no person left outside.”

Now, I know I use to act a fool, but all I ask is for you to expose yourself to things outside of your bubble–something just popped. I said to myself, look at you with that pretty face, perfect hair and those wonderfully placed clothes. Your only problem is tomorrows outfit? When you’re blessed it’s your duty to give back. So a few members of CASHMERE CLUB 1867, myself and Lo headed to the Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless to set up the decor for the shelters atmosphere. Now the beauty of all this is that the art works you’re about to see were all painted by the men in the shelter.

If you’re in the Atlanta area come by the open mic/talent showcase event that we’re having on Thursday October 13th from 7PM-10PM. The money raised will be used to build a coffee house for the men to run and operate.

The darkest hour are the 60 minutes that make the change. And I’d like to say that inspiring kids has been a pleasure. These young black students have yet to be exposed to what most of us have, they call them the have-nots, so it’s pretty simple: there was a call for action, and I decided to answered it. I now spend my nights coming up with lesson plans for the Banking, Finance, & Investment students, we teach over 180 kids Monday-Friday. Ofcourse the students once looked at me as “the Prince guy with the funny clothes”….and to my surprise they really dig my slippers and man bag now.

Washington High School Educational Complex (Atlanta), named for the famous educator, opened in September 1924 under the auspices of the Atlanta Board of Education, with the late Charles Lincoln Harper as principal. As the first public high school for African-Americans in the state of Georgia and the Atlanta Public Schools. Booker T.
