I’m almost never serious, and I’m always too serious. Too deep, too shallow. Too sensitive, too cold heart. I’m like a collection of paradoxes. - Ferdinand von Schrubentaufft
Sometimes it’s to your advantage for people to think you’re crazy. I’ll take crazy over stupid any day. She’s getting lite, I light her up. It’s only a ciggie — not too controversial. Playing Starship Orchestra in my head while smoke blow. I’m blind to the facts in this traveling mask. I have a quiet way of not listening. A cold cowboy girl in the corner, but being still and doing nothing are two different things. Cherish your solitude; If it didn’t kill you then it’s working for your good. Try being the strong silent type. “Life can be so nice, It’s a wonderful world, sweet paradise.”

Shaun Ross, first albino model from New York and most recently appeared in Katy Perry’s “E.T.” music video and Beyonce’s “Party”, takes us on an eventful trip to Paris packed with photoshoots, parties, and appearances from Chaka Khan and Grace Jones. Ross has been featured in photo-editorial campaigns in major fashion publications including British GQ, Italian Vogue, i-D Magazine, Paper Magazine and Another Man, and has modeled for Alexander McQueen and Givenchy. The inspirational short film was shot over the course of 2 days with an iPhone — how modern of us. Share your thoughts of this creative experience with @ShaundRoss

Last week in Charleston: Paradise now in classic high society comforting decor. An affair to remember, experiencing a new level of luxury and service at High Cotton fine dining restaurant owned by the Marverick Group — an array of southern restaurants and a teaching kitchen/cooking retail shop sharing distinctive culinary experiences that celebrate Southern culture. I snacked on the sauteed golden tilefish topped with crispy sweet potates, littleneck clams, swiss chard, and fennel cream. While my good friend Lindsay enjoyed her pan roasted snapper.
High Cotton; High steppin’ Lowcountry food and fine dining. It’s a feeling of warmth and celebration that begins the moment you step inside. You’ll find it in our gracious, knowledgeable servers, expertly prepared dishes and a remarkable wine and cocktail program. Make a reservation for the fine dining rooms known as “French Quarter Room” and “East Bay Room” or first-come, first-served in the bar/lounge with live entertainment after 6pm. http://www.mavericksouthernkitchens.com/highcotton/charleston/

High stepping in velvet slippers to see a 1500 year old tree towering over 65 feet high? Reportedly the oldest thing — living or man-made — east of the Rockies, Angel Oak is a live oak tree aged approximately 1,500 years. Some locals simply call it The Tree. It stands in a wooded area along Bohicket Road of John’s Island outside Charleston, South Carolina. You won’t find a lot of stuff like tee shirt shacks around there, because basically the attraction is a single tree standing in a park. So keep an eye out for signs and drive slowly. –>Inside Story
Croissants and macaroons. For a Parisian morning, visit Gaulart and Maliclet cafe restaurant, also known as Fast and French — The ideal place setting for a casual bite featuring French cheeses, soups, salads, and daily dinner special. The minimalist gem in the historic district of downtown Charleston has foudue night every Thursday, as well as meals that include your beverage from iced tea to house wine. The breakfast menu is filled with a variety of croissants, fruit salad, and French pressed coffee — very cute. Gaulart and Maliclet cafe have provided fresh, affordable, healthy, and global cuisine with a French flair since 1984. More of my dining experience inside. –>Inside Story
The truest of the truant. Penelope Moon is the creative muse of Othello Grey. Grey is the Managing Editor and Design Director of Art of Re-use — a traveling pop-up thrit boutique that prices found pieces $50 and under with a limit of three items per customer. “The initiative is re-inventing thrift shopping and the connotation it comes with, whether that be negative or positive. In 6 month durations, we assemble a team of tastemakers, merchandisers and designers to play a role in building our pop-up thrift shop that lasts for a few memorable hours.” Visit http://www.penelopemoon.blogspot.com/ to enjoy more photography by Othello Grey.

A.CHAL – Roses on Your Silhouette. Underground DJ/producer A.Chal has been of mystique throughout his music career. An obscure figure far from hubris, he plays the background while letting the music speak volumes. That said, his role as a music producer has garnered high praise amongst his peers, more recently with fashion house Ralph Lauren where he’s been active as music director in past campaigns. Today, he shares with us an embodiment of all things experienced formed into one “video single” to give viewers an added effect. via source

Greater Than. Inches taller, tonight we do it for Kodak at Trio Club and Lounge — a Downtown Charleston hotspot that caters to an anxious after-work crowd. Once the drinks start coming, the ties start getting loose. Downstairs you’ll enjoy a mature crowd with live sounds from Quiana Parler & Friends, South Carolina’s musical elite, featuring an extremely diverse musical history of the past 50 years. Parler’s reditions are a fresh spin on the after-hours celebration. While DJs frequent the upstairs club and dance party scene. Dare if you’ve got moves like Jagger. Now go to sleep baby.

Visual art to make you groove on this beautiful afternoon. Or not so beautiful depending on your location. What you’re watching below is a live remix/cover of Lana Del Rey’s Video Games by MeLo-X — a sonic creator. Incorporating kaleidoscopic influences from Eminem to Nirvana, from Picasso to Moses, from the sweet scent of Jamaican mango trees to the pungent stenches of dark New York City corners – this Brooklyn native fuses together vibrations of soul, electronic hip hop, old school reggae and new school basement party. MeLo-X will be releasing his first full length instrumental album titled “Fewture” on 1/31/12. Pre-orders available at http://meloxtra.bandcamp.com

Pictorial journal. Hocus pocus, sequins are not just for parties. I’m not sure if it really matters, but I like it for late afternoons. Kind of like an innocent vice but way festive when it hits the light. “With my eyes turned to the past I walk backwards into the future.” Oh, the tales of a rolling stone age. I’m moving wherever the winds blows. Trying to keep it steady but, anything under 90 mph feels strange. I understand not everyone can relate to what I appreciate — A boulevard called sunset, a lounge called Suede and sand in January. Just a few more rounds until my feet touch the ground back in Miss New York City. –>Inside Story
Healthy living. I rode down to catch some of that ocean glow perfecto. While you’re making a living don’ t forget to live. From the twilight zone to dusk, make my day with a “cheers!” What’s your flavor? A double scoop of palm tress in the middle of winter are selling me today, and that’s a loaded gun. It’s a fact, kiss kiss. I made no resolutions for the New Year. “The habit of making plans, of criticizing, sanctioning and molding my life, is too much of a daily event for me.” — Words from Anaïs Nin somehow fit me like a glove. There is surely nothing other than the single purpose of the present moment. Take the journey and enjoy it for whatever it brings. Can you hear me switching lanes? I can see the vibration in the side view mirror.
