Kanon Organic Vodka Host Private Dinner Party At The Goat Farm

April 27, 2012  |  After Hour Spots, Chef's Table, Creative Experience, Editor's Picks, Foodie, Where Are The Clothes

We may be from small towns, but we’re pretty sure we can get down with the best of ATL. And we did just that, at the Atlanta launch dinner on Tuesday night for Kanon Organic Vodka. At one of the famed cocktail-pairing dinners–a different cocktail for each course–Kanon had Mixologist Eric Simpkins, of The Lawrence making sure that the Kanon cocktails were on point, and the phenomenal Chef Shane Devereux, also of The Lawrence, making sure that guests were fed a meal worthy of royalty (those are our roots, after all.) Any Kanon launch party isn’t complete without some special details. And since they’re not into doing things halfway, they made sure that the entire thing was sustainable too. The menus were printed on wildflower seed paper that guests, including Marquis Phifer and Sham Shirley of LateBoots, could take home and plant for actual flowers. Very cool.

+ They enlisted our new friend, Atlanta-based artist Jarno Kettunen to make sure the table was covered in style. And, since we’re all for spreading the love, at the end of the meal they had all of the guests tear off the parts of the illustrations that they liked best, to take home and frame. And lastly, if you know anything about cocktails, you should know that they’ve never met an herb they didn’t like. So Kanon gifted each of the guests with a dill plant potted in a vintage bell jar. All in all, it was an awesome foray into the Atlanta scene. Chef’s Table: Marquis Phifer Was Spotted Out Dining at Spin (Atlanta)

April 6, 2012  |  After Hour Spots, Chef's Table, Editor's Picks, Foodie, Registration, Towering Intellectual Class

SPIN ATLANTA: Marquis Phifer was spotted out Wednesday evening eating and later leaving the posh Spin pizza restaurant on Peters Street in the Castleberry Hill area of Atlanta. He dined without his signature shades and served face with one of his favorite ladies.

It’s so unfair so unreasonable. Pardon me. But, Phifer & @GOcinderellaaa is in the mirror in the all black jeep. We’re snatched & we hustle. Both Houston raised! Phifer spends his evenings with college educated women–I need shade and a vaca  —-> Sickening. Va va voom this post is about the pizza (flying out to Pisa)! In memory of, formely known as Slice, the new creaters renamed it Spin with a shaved down menu and more luxe decor. No! I don’t want dacquoise. I want the BEST economically priced pizza on the market. Am I reaching for the stars here? Not really. We spent the night with a dj on site playing all of our beloved Kanye tunes. Somebody check the clock–it’s dinner time; so gather around hustlers–that is if you’re still living. Definitely check out the new Spin the next time you’re in the Castleberry Hill area. Oh, tell Tersa (with the long dreads) Phifer sent you. I’m trying to get me another account! Mercy.

Vol. 4 Life & Times of M. Phifer: Spring Cheers With #COOL (W Hotel)

March 31, 2012  |  After Hour Spots, Editor's Picks, Model Friday, Towering Intellectual Class, Where Are The Clothes

WHISKEY PARK W HOTEL MIDTOWN: Friday night, Phifer was seen partying and later leaving the posh W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta. He wore a yellow double breasted blazer and black wax jeans with red Ralph Lauren slippers. He was accompanied by his close friends & a female entourage.

Kids on 14th in the street drinking wine. I’ll show you how to do this son! The W Hotel is so good to us. The truest of the truant. If you were on my Twitter (touch here) around the hours of 12am-4am, I broadcasted my nighty experience via ON DEMAND. No-No-No, this is more about your style of living oppose to clothes–lavish dreams, lookin clean, hella green. In this lifetime you either get it or not. Lifestyles are negotiable. I call this style my Devil Wears Prada come up. Or call it the Carrie Bradshaw Theory. We may be ambitious, fairytale dreaming, pretentious and unpretentious looking 20 somethings (expense account-holding businessmen mingle among dolled-up girls hoping for a Marquis Phifer sighting). Just another night attending a Wil May #COOL party. I’m answering your prayers this Spring.

Filled to the brim with grand thoughts and wealthy educations. I’m talking to the school kids in the classroom right now; make no mistake I blog for the educated college public–this is the best of School Daze. Muscial Society Series: Alex Jacke Covers “High For This” (Video)

March 27, 2012  |  Editor's Picks, Individual Spotlight, Invested Listener, Musicology, Playlist

New Artist | ALEX JACKE

When you look back years from now I want you to say “Phifer taught me“. Putting your speakers into a sarcophagus–so the best advice is to just get on top of this. There’s something about Alex Jacke, the return of the youth. In preparation for his single soon to be available for public listening, the singer/songwriter is quickly on the rise amongst the young elite artists in the music industry. Hailing from Los Angles this R&B/Pop artist has been working on his project for a little over a year now and is ready to grace the world with his musical presence. In 2011, approaching his senior year at Morehouse College, he decided to depart from school and follow his dream. He was discovered by musical guru, Laney Stewart, who (as he did with many other acts such as The-Dream and Esther Dean) led Alex to sign his publishing deal with Universal Music Group. Under the direction of Stewart, Alex has had the opportunity to work with and write with many artists. In between writing for other artists and developing his own project, Alex has done great justice to many artists with his latest run of song covers. His most recent being “High For This” by The Weeknd.

+ He loves Michael Jackson, Prince, Tupac, Steely Dan, Sade, and The Local Natives. You’ll catch him rocking Supreme sweats, Puma Clydes, Alexander Wang, Minnetonka, John Varavatos, Adidas Gazelles, and he thinks Meryl Streep is sexy. More available on Alex: Twitter | YouTube | Facebook.

THIS IS DOM KENNEDY TOUR: Last night, the “This is Dom Kennedy Tour” stopped in Atlanta for a packed out show presented by Atlantic Division Entertainment and Honor Roll Clothing. Dom Kennedy rocked the crowd performing some of his classic hits and some new songs off his upcoming Yellow Album.

On March 25th The Loft hosted a concert for American rapper Dom Kennedy for his upcoming “Yellow Album” release. And your Atlanta Ambassador was invited to attend (R.S.V.P. yes to a concert on a school night, I want the driver to drop me off at 9:30 and pick me up at 9:45 sharp). We were live at the concert in full effect like wow! Dom Kennedy graced the stage with a bottle of Hennessy! The Henney bottle!! Yes, Dom. (I really like this Dom Kennedy. His people needs to get in contact with my people so we can do things)! Phifer was with the civilians watching Dom perform, well kind of. By all means move at a glacial pace the video awaits you!  –>Inside Story
